Morrissey Greatest Hits review

Morrissey. I've met him, one and half times. The half time was outside a record store in Covina that is now called Kaos Records but used to be Hot Rocks. He just smiled and walked past by me. The second time he was a complete asshole to me, very rude and didn't care to acknowledge my existence even though I had shook his hand. Yet, despite him being a shit person, he remains one of my favorite singers, and plus his music has helped me get laid, a lot, in the past.

He has a new record out tomorrow, a greatest hits compilation titled "Greatest Hits". The album is from label is Decca Records, the company that infamously turned down The Beatles for a record contract back in 1962, but has downsized in the past few years focusing on classic music, and is now owned by Polydor Records and corporate-parent Universal Music Group.

Greatest Hits is an odd title for a what it is. Are the songs hit songs? Yes, but are they, in both critical and commercial way Morrissey's greatest? Not entirely. His legendary tunes "Everyday is Like Sunday" "Suedehead" "The Last of the Famous International Playboys" and "The More You Ignore Me, the Closer I Get" appear (are licensed from EMI) yet none of his later hits from Warner Bros. are not, and the rest of the album is full of newer hits from his past two albums from Sanctuary Records.

Two new recordings appear in the compilation, "All You Need Is Me" and "That's How People Grow Up", the latter also being released as a single with live-renditions of past songs as b-sides.

Now, unless you don't have a friend who has any Morrissey albums, or if you are new to Morrissey, you should check this album out. A lot of these songs are not very great, but its a fucking start.

For the Moz fans out there... come on now. You guys piss the fuck out of me personally, and that's usually why I don't like to publicly say I like the Mozzer. Don't buy this shit, you guys have these songs, multiple times damn it.
