KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas 1998

The year is finally over, nothing much left but for me to post a new post. Best of all, its a radio rant: I haven't listened to KROQ for many, many years now, since all their music sounds too similar and boring. Even the legendary Rodney on the Roq has lost his ways. I did go to an KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas show, the first night, back in 1998. Bands that night of that year included Barenaked Ladies, The Cardigans, Reel Big Fish, Sugar Ray, blink-182, Hole, The Offspring, and closing the show, KoRn. The concert was held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, right next to USC.

As a final treat for everyone this year, I have for you the entire 24-minute set by blink-182, from that 1998 KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas show I attended. That was my first ever concert at age 13, and I still think it was a pretty damn good show. I will probably change that thought within the new year...

Oh John!

Part two of a special post, remembering John Lennon, a musical pioneer, murdered 26 years ago today. Post-Beatles, John went on to create even more personal music, often with the love of his life, Yoko Ono. Here is just a small sample of his solo contributions to music history. Goodnight, John.

Beatle John

John Lennon was murdered on December 8th, 1980. This was almost five years before I was born, but like many others younger and older than myself, John Lennon’s music helped me through may ups & downs, and life itself. Today I will be posting two sets of blog posts remembering John Lennon, the first consisting of his work with The Beatles, and the second, comprising of his solo recordings. If you've never heard the music of John Lennon with The Beatles before (I know there must be at least four of you out there) then you're in for a real treat. Peace.

Wii and Mii

I have let everyone I know down. I have disappointed them beyond belief. And all I did was not play my Wii.

Wii's are not rare, but they sure are not common, either. Yeah, I haven't played my Wii so much since I got it, so what? Not like I'm getting rid of the damn thing anytime soon. I am very excited for the Wii, but not counting the Virtual Counsel games and Zelda, the only Wii game I've enjoyed playing is Marvel Ultimate Alliance --barely; the graphics are awful, and the game play while innovative gets repetitive doing the same moves with the Wiimote and Nunchuck over and over again!

I will play more games besides Zelda, when better games are released. In the meantime, I have to practice my fishing.
