picture me in ten years time watching

It looks like
Anton Corbijn's biopic based on Ian Curtis, titled Control, has finally ready to go, after a successful premier at the Cannes Film Festival this past May. This film, based on the book Touching From a Distance, by Curtis' widow, Deborah (who is also co-producer), follows the life of the late musician; from the beginnings and success with his band Joy Division to his 1980 suicide.

I first heard about the film a few years ago, and I'm glad to see it will be released later this year in the states by
The Weinstein Company. In the mood, here are some samples of what to expect with a film of this nature.

The Ground Beneath Her Feet

U2 are one of the most popular bands in the world. As musicans, their work is diverse, distinct, and overall incredible. Yet, the thought of their greatest work has been quite challenging. Here's my two cents: The Ground Beneath Her Feet is their best song. Never heard of it? It's not exactly popular as Vertigo, Beautiful Day, or With Or Without You, but you can find it in two formats: The first in the U2 - Best of 1990-2000 DVD, as it's a featured music video. The second, and just as common (at like Tower and the Warehouse) is the soundtrack to the 2000 film The Million Dollar Hotel. The film, co-written by Bono and directed by veteran filmmaker Wim Wenders, was not a box office hit, or even remotely successful whatsoever (I blame Mel Gibson). Be your own judge and make it a rental next time your out. The Ground Beneath Her Feet, written by Salman Rushdie, and performed by U2.
